The spring 2012 Girls on the Run program will start the week of February 6, 2012 and run through the week of May 6th, 2012.  Program locations and times can be found here.

Our season will end with the girls participating in The Diva Dash Saturday, May 12th – a 5K run/walk event in Bidwell Park.  All girls will run/walk with a ‘running buddy’ to help with pacing and motivation.  This running buddy can be a family member, friend, or one of our volunteers.  More information about running buddies will be distributed when the program starts.

Registration Process

Registration will be held Thursday, January 19th and Saturday, January 21st, 2012 at Fleet Feet Sports located at 241 Main Street in downtown Chico. 

Thursday’s times will be 10 am to 1 pm and again 5-6 pm.

Saturday’s times will be 10 am to 3 pm.

Registration forms and payment will be accepted first-come, first-served.

If you are unable to attend registration at your child’s school, we will also be accepting registration forms via U.S. postal mail beginning Thursday, January 19, 2012.  Our address is:

Parents will be notified via e-mail before January 27^th of the status of their child’s application.

Have a couple of hours a week to coach a team of girls?  We will train you and provide all of the tools you will need.  You’ll be rewarded with smiles, hugs, and the opportunity to make a difference!

The Diva Dash 5K Run/Walk is the offical graduation race for the Girls on the Run of Butte County Spring Program.

The spring 2012 run takes place Saturday, May 12th – the Saturday before Mother’s Day. What a great way to spend time with your Mom/Daughter!

A portion of the event’s proceeds will be donated to our organization thanks to the event planner - Fleet Feet Sports in Chico!

Would you like to actually increase your contribution to Girls on the Run of Butte County?  Its easy! During the Annie B’s Community Drive, any donation you make will be supplemented with a percentage grant from North Valley Community Foundation (NVCF).

How can you help us get this money?  Simply make your donation between August 1 and September 30. Gifts must be made on behalf of Girls on the Run of Butte County and mailed to NVCF.  In addition to checks, donations may be made on-line here on the NVCF Web site.   NVCF can also accept gifts of stock, real estate, and other property with value.  Girls on the Run will receive 100% of these contributions plus a portion of the $100,000 in grant funds available.

This is a major community-wide effort involving close to 200 local nonprofits. In the first two years (2007 and 2008), a total of  $2 million was donated to participating nonprofits, plus $200,000 in percentage grants was added by NVCF.

To make a donation to Girls on the Run of Butte County that will be supplemented by funds from  Annie B’s, you must do the following.

Make your donation after August 1, but no later than September 30, 2011.

This event serves as the culmination of the fall Girls on the Run (GOTR) program and also as a wonderful fundraising event to support GOTR. For many of our 8-12 year old participants this is their first 5K. We hope you and your family will join us!!
